United colors of Tango

Black, White, Red and Gold. Four colors, four milongas, four dance shows in four days. Tango Alchemy festival run around the June solstice every year in Prague finished last Sunday. And it looks that every year organizators try to surpass the last one. The first festival in 2007 was a mystery tour - no one was able to predict if it was a good idea or if it would flop. The second one was a challenge due to extreme budget that was planned. The third one was also very risky because it was focused on electrotango; Otros Aires orchestra was invited for Red milonga.

Electrotango and tango neuvo (music and dance style) have really weak position here in Czechia. And I can be blamed for it too :-) All dance schools teach more or less traditional tango styles: milonguero at Caminito, systema Dinzel at Julio's Witnesses studio and finally open embrace at TangoImperial - but they have only small influence on Prague tango scene to change the mainstream.

I enjoyed all four milongas. I danced with all women I wanted to. I danced with a few women I didn't wanted to. I met old friend from England, a guy who rather flies fo Prague than drives to London. I danced with a woman whose dance style I was always afraid of and it worked superbly. The only dark spot was DJ Mona (DE). As someone said: "The only difference between her performance last year and this year was that last year she buggered White milonga up and this year she buggered the Black one up." Never mind.
